Born in Kashmir, in 1972, has been an advocate for labour rights and just working conditions in Asia for more than a decade. Leading a regional labour organisation for past 5 years, he has raised the awareness on the ‘darker side’ of the ‘Shining Asia’ also known as the ‘manufacturing hub’ of the world, besides helping to empower grassroots groups in Asia through a network of more than 100 organisations spanning over 15 Asian countries. His expertise in Occupational Health and Safety has won international awards, including from the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, and recognition as one of the 50 most influential Environmental, Health and Safety leaders in 2008. His writings on grassroots workers’ movements and workers’ health issues have been published widely.
